The founders of SAWA HOUSE Foundation, before they were repressed and fled Belarus, were engaged in helping the victims of Lukashenko’s regime. And they always did it after work, until late night. Because of this they jokingly called each other “owl” (or “sawa” in Belarusian).
Today the mission of our Foundation is to become a House of such Owls (or Sawa House) for all those who suffered or had to leave Belarus or Ukraine because of the threat of imprisonment or war. We help women and children in many different ways.
What’s we do
Our foundation helps all people affected by the Lukashenka regime and by the war in Ukraine. Mostly the victims are women and children. We organise humanitarian aid distribution and help to organise raising funds for various needs.
We also have an Art marketplace, where we help women to realize themselves. Let’s see, which different art projects they make with their own hands: https://sawa.house/art/
Everything we do aims at supporting and adapting all those people who were forced to flee Belarus and Ukraine and to apply for refugee status in Lithuania. Most of our attention is given to women and children, because they are the most vulnerable group who have been affected.
Our Goal
Together with the support of other organizations and Lithuanian government, we want to provide them with all necessary things while they are waiting for a decision on refugee status or finding a job.
Also, we would like to provide children with the opportunity to spend time with their age mates during these difficult hours, to ensure that their psychological well-being is minimally affected by the relocation.
Our Mission
We believe that one day the Lukashenko regime will leave and the war in Ukraine will end. And all the people we help will return to Belarus and Ukraine. But while all terrible events are still taking place today, we want to be a safe house for those who have lost their home, or are unable to return to it.
